Water TaiJiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) Course<\/span><\/h3>\n

We started the taiji<\/em>quan course on September 24 with students from 13 different countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone has been very excited to train the physical aspect of the course out in the front courtyard for these last few days. After Shifu\u2019s demonstrations, he\u2019s checking and correcting everyone’s stances and movements on the taijiquan<\/em> form and push hands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The training continues, the bodies may be tired but everyone is enjoying the process very much.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students first had a few theory classes on taijiquan<\/em>, longevity qigong, and sitting meditation. At the theory classes on taijiquan<\/em>, Shifu explained the requirements for the body postures and their relations to the power, energy and movements of qi within and without the body. Practicing qigong, taijiquan <\/em>and meditation, one can unify with Heaven and Earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taiji<\/em> theory is based on the theories of the ancient River Map (\u6cb3\u56fe), Luo Scroll (\u6d1b\u4e66), Yi Jing (\u6613\u7ecf), Five Elements (\u4e94\u884c), and Eight Trigrams (\u516b\u5366). It is a result of thousands of years of continuous summarizations and sublimations. As taijiquan<\/em> forms originated from Five-Animal Qigong (\u4e94\u79bd\u620f) Eight Brocades (\u516b\u6bb5\u9326), Guiding and Leading Exercises (\u5bfc\u5f15\u672f), etc., these are also derived from changes and sublimation of past masters\u2019 understandings, practices and cultivation.<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked about taijiquan<\/em> sects, styles and lineages, Shifu explained that taiji<\/em> is not owned by anyone or any group. Due to the differences in each individual’s foundation, level of understanding and gong (skill)<\/em>, those who had a deeper and higher grasp of the theory and forms became the grandmasters of sects.
