Daoist Divination\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Last summer Li Shifu performed a ceremony in the main temple hall of the \u2018Five Immortals\u2019, during which he used an ancient Chinese method of divination called \u2018Divinatory Horns\u2019 to cast a hexagram for everyone in the course, in order to give every person a direction for their life and study in the future. The cast hexagram provides concrete answers to the person\u2019s individual problems and question at that time. Some hexagrams pointed out very personal and private matters and explained how to deal with them.<\/p>\n

Li Shifu told us, that we must only calm our body and mind, employ sincerity, honesty and respect, be totally focused and concentrated when raising the question. Through this method anyone can obtain an accurate answer to one\u2019s questions.<\/p>\n

Li Shifu also said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSages do not cast divinations.<\/span>
\nAll the matters to be done are for \u2018clear-sighted people falling into the well\u2019. <\/span>
\nWhat does this mean? <\/span>
\nForetelling the future bring forth a selfish aspect. <\/span>
\nThings that are beneficial for oneself are done, matters without gain are left undone.<\/span>
\nBut some matters are one\u2019s responsibility and duty, <\/span>
\nBecause they are acts of merit and virtue. <\/span>
\nTherefore despite of not being profitable for oneself they have to be carried out. \u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

The study of the Yi Jing has two sentences that are of utmost importance:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cQuiet, still and unmoving,<\/span>
\ntherefore one is able to perceive higher understanding<\/span>
\nthrough communication with the higher realms.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA man of noble character attains the ability to endure hardships;<\/span>
\nAn inferior man attains an easy and light-hearted life.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the cultivation of the unification of the physical body and the higher self.
