Water Tai Chi (TaiJiQuan) and Natural Healing Foundational Methods<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Purpose<\/strong>: To study the ancient Eastern art of guiding and cultivating qi, in order to attain personal physical well-being and the ability to self-treat injuries.<\/p>\n

Course Contents and Schedule:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Theory Classes<\/strong>: Tai Chi theory, historical development, current status, and principles of sparring techniques. Methods for pain relief include fire therapy, moxibustion, cupping, bloodletting, music therapy, acupressure massage, and herbal prescriptions. Healing techniques of Tai Chi Qi Gong. Learning Daoist etiquette and taboos.<\/p>\n

Morning (1.5 hours):<\/strong> Longevity Qi Gong – Five forms (Expel the Old, Take In the New; Red Phoenix Facing the Sun; Five Qi Return to the Source; Dragon Claw Gong; Embracing the Origin and Guarding the One). Open the gate, clear the orifice, Rhythmic detoxification exercise 21-forms, Five Tones Healing Song with Guiding method, Three Vertebrae Seven Forms (Stubborn Bull Turns its Head; Yaksha Explores the Sea; Lazy Bear Stretches its Waist; Golden Turtle Shines its Back; Auspiciousness on the top of the Head; Bronze Wall, Iron Back; Wind Sways the Willow) – methods to regulate cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine issues.<\/p>\n

Morning (2.5 hours)<\/strong>: Water Tai Chi 33-form routine – foundational techniques, stances, postures, breathing methods, relaxation of shoulders, embracing the shoulders, wheel rolling, Single Push Hands, Double Push Hands. Pure Yang Longevity Set – Nine forms (Heavenly Set).<\/p>\n

Afternoon (2.5 hours)<\/strong>: Water Tai Chi 33-form routine – foundational techniques, stances, postures, breathing methods, relaxation of shoulders, embracing the shoulders, wheel rolling, Single Push Hands, Double Push Hands. Pure Yang Longevity Set – Nine forms (Heavenly Set).<\/p>\n

Evening (1.5 hours):<\/strong> Tai Chi Standing Meditation – Tai Chi Opening and Closing, Submerging and Floating pillar. Sitting meditation cultivating stillness, Lying Dragon meditation.<\/p>\n

Possible 2 to 3-day field trip to some of the following locations after a course : Wudang Cultural Research Center, Daoist Academy, Wudang Mountain, Fuxi Mausoleum, Laojun Terrace, Zhang Zhongjing’s Former Residence in Nanyang. (depends on weather conditions and the number of student requests, subject to change due to temple\u2019s or other special circumstances. The temple will be responsible for transportation, entrance fees, and meals; students will be responsible for accommodation costs).<\/p>\n

If you have enrolled in two or more consecutive courses, the time between these courses can be used for volunteering and staying at the temple for free.<\/p>\n

If needed, students may stay 3 to 5 days before or after a course free of charge.<\/p>\n

The minimum number of students required for this course is 8. We reserve the right to cancel the course 2 months prior to course commencement if the requirement is not met.\u00a0 Anyone honestly interested in taking part in this course is required to submit an application (download here<\/u><\/a>). T<\/strong>he decision for acceptance will be made within 3 weeks. After the student is accepted, deposit must be made in order to secure his\/her place in the course.<\/strong><\/p>\n

If for some reason students decide not to stay at the temple, the deposit will not be refunded and they must leave China, since the responsibility for their visas falls on the temple. If a student is unable to attend the course, we reserve the right to keep the deposit as this may have taken an opportunity away from someone else to join the course. If for any serious, unforeseen reason (family bereavement, etc.) you are unable to attend the course, the deposit can be used towards another course (same or different) in the current year or the next year.
